March 11, 2021 Elkins Water & Sewer Meeting
1. A regular meeting of the Elkins Water & Sewer committee was called to order by Duane Foster on Thursday March 11th, 2021 at the Elkins Administration Building.
Present: Member Darrel Glenn, Member Mike Abbiatti, Member Jim Cope & Water & Sewer Superintendent Duane Foster, Mayor Bruce Ledford & Matt Francis from the planning committee
Absent: Brian Gray
2. Duane had each of the committee members read the minutes independently. The minutes read were from the regular meeting held January 14th, 2021.
Motion was made by Mike to accept the minutes, 2nd by Jim. All were in favor motion carried.
3. Duane Foster updated committee on what has been going on. Duane discussed how well things went during the cold spell. They only had one of our meters freeze and bust. Customers seem to be more cautious when extreme weather hits. General discussion followed.
4a. Verbiage of policies:
Duane asked committee to approve changing some wording of the policies. As of now it states each resident and Duane asked that it be changed to each occupant. These businesses with multiple suites are in need of getting meters for each ste and not combine two accounts with one meter. General discussion followed. Motion was made by Jim to change the verbiage, and by Mike. All were in favor. Motion carried.
4b. Bruce spoke with the committee regarding the upcoming special election and ways to get the information out to voters.
General discussion followed
Motion to adjourn made by Jim, 2nd by mike. All were in favor. Motion carried.
