ELKINS PUBLIC LIBRARY Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes 

Tuesday, January 12, 2021 

I. The meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm by Board President Eve Owens. Also present were members Kathie Battenfield, Jacque Faubus, David Harrelson, MaryTo Smith, and Paulette Tate and City Council Member Matt Francis. Due to COVID-19, this meeting was conducted on Zoom. 

II. Approval of Minutes: The Minutes from the meetings on November 13, 2020 and December 12, 2020 were approved unanimously following a motion to approve by Kathie Batterfield and a second by David Harrelson; 

III. EPL Reports 

A. Statistics: The Library is getting ready to resume Story Time. Circulation increased a little. 

B. Financials; The numbers for 2020 will be very close. Up to this point, 94% of the budgeted amount has been expended. All new year contracts have been prepaid, except Rid-a-Pest. It would not go through. 

IV. Old Business 

A. Limited Reopening: For now, we will be continuing with the curbside service only. 

B. Budget Update: Gayla sent out the budget with updated numbers. Payment adjustment on the mortgage has been done and sent to the lawyer. The payment will go from $1,879 to $1,050 per month.

C. Letters of Support: We have letters of support from the Library System, small business group, and individuals. 

V. New Business 

No new business. 

VI. Announcements  

We have a $3,000 grant approval which will be part of Abby’s salary,

Eve will try to start up the Library Newsletter again.

VII. Next Meeting Date: The next meeting will be February 9, 2021 at 5 pm 

VIII. Adjournment: Motion to adjourn by Marylo Smith at 5:55 pm, seconded by David Harrelson, approved unanimously.
