    January 14, 2021 Elkins Water & Sewer Meeting

    1. A regular meeting of the Elkins Water & Sewer committee was called to order by Chairman Brian Gray on Thursday January 14th, 2021 at the Elkins Administration Building.
    Present: Brian Gray, Member Darrel Glenn, Member Mike Abbiatti, Member Keith Woods, Member Jim Cope & Water & Sewer Superintendent Duane Foster Matt Francis from the planning committee
    Absent;

    2. Chairman Brian Gray had each of the committee members read the minutes independently. The minutes read were from the regular meeting held December 9th, 2020.
    Motion was made by Mike to accept the minutes, 2nd by Keith. All were in favor motion carried.

    3. Duane Foster updated committee on what has been going on. Duane discussed the leaks on the City side that they have had to repair, one on Sara Alice & one on Prairie View. Duane addressed the fixing of the blowout saddle down at Justus. He stated they had to shut-off the 14″ to put the tee back in and had to hook up the 8″ going to Jason Juştus’ new building. They also poured concrete, filled in the hole, & fixed the driveway.

    4. General discussion followed.

    5a. Election of Officers:

    Brian said he will continue to be the Chairman for the Water & Sewer Committee. General discussion followed.

    5b. General Discussion:
    Committee talked about the upcoming special election & need to raise rates. They will be reworking the 34 cent tax.
    Committee had discussion of how to get the information out to the public, Facebook and or posting on the City Webpage.
    Brian asked Duane regarding the letter from the Department of Health. Joe had to take all samples due to us being shutdown from Covid. Joe did call and speak with our representative who stated that our samples need to be split up. General discussion followed.
    Duane commented how good it is to have a full committee.
    Shut-offs have restarted. The customers that had not paid in months were the ones disconnected, ones who were one month behind received a door hanger with a deadline to pay.
    Motion to adjourn made by Keith, 2nd by Jim. All were in favor. Motion carried.
