AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING 2012 ARKANSAS FIRE PREVENTION CODES (RESIDENTIAL, BUILDING AND FIRE) DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST AND OTHER RELATED MATTERS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ELKINS, ARKANSAS, That:
Section 1. ADOPTION OF 2012 FIRE CODES. There is hereby adopted by the City Council of Elkins, Arkansas, the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code – Residential (2012 edition/version), the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code – Building (2012 edition/version) and the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code – Fire (2012 edition/version), of which three copies thereof have been and are now open to public examination (either electronically or by hard copy) in the office of the Recorder of Elkins, AR, said Codes are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out word for word herein. The provisions thereof shall be controlling within the corporate limits of the City of Elkins, Arkansas on the effective date of this Ordinance.
Section 2. INCONSISTENT ORDINANCES REPEALED. Ordinances or parts thereof in force at the time that this ordinance takes effect, if inconsistent herewith, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistencies.
Section 3. Emergency Clause. This Ordinance adopting the 2012 editions of the Arkansas Fire Prevention Fire Codes is necessary to qualify for lower ISO rating for the citizens and property owners of Elkins which rating will save money on each fire insurance policy, and is thereby necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens and residents of Elkins; an emergency is hereby declared and therefore this Ordinance shall be immediately effective on the day of its passage and approval.
