A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE BY THE CITY OF ELKINS, ARKANSAS, OF A 1967 INTERNATIONAL FIRE TRUCK TO THE KINGSTON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department has determined that it no longer has need of an older fire truck and wishes to donate it to another volunteer fire department.
WHEREAS, the vehicle was acquired and used by the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department for over twenty-five years;
WHEREAS, the City has no current need for such vehicle and does not anticipate a need for the vehicle in the foreseeable future;
WHEREAS, the fire truck is still serviceable if properly outfitted, maintained and operated.
WHEREAS, the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department has expressed a desire to have the vehicle and has need for same.
BE IT THEREFORE, RESOLVED BY THE ELKINS CITY COUNCIL, that the City sell the 1967 International fire truck (VIN 228902G2208 l 9) to the Kingston Volunteer Fire Department for one dollar ($1.00), the terms of the sale are "AS IS". That the City Council hereby waives the requirement of advertising for bids concerning the sale of this vehicle by the City. That the Mayor and Recorder/Treasurer are hereby authorized to execute the necessary documents to carry out such sale. PASSED AND APPROVED this 4th, day of February, 2010.
