A RESOLUTION REPEALING RESOLUTION 2007-15 AND AUTHORIZING A TAKE-HOME UNIT FOR THE ELKINS' CHIEF OF POLICE.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to improve the response time officers of the Elkins Police Department in backing up the in duty police officers. WHEREAS, the City Council desires to allow the Police Chief as a Department Head to have a take-home unit which is for official business only but which may be maintained at his residence when not in use. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ELKINS CITY COUNCIL, That:
Section 1: Resolution 2007-15 passed July 5, 2007, is hereby repealed effective the 1st day of March, 2008.
Section 2: That the Chief of the Elkins Police Department shall be allowed to take his police unit to his residence for storage when not in use. The city vehicle is to be taken to the Chief's residence and parked in a safe location as to limit the opportunity for damage or loss of property and shall not be used for anything other than official city business pertaining to the police department, effective the 1st day of March, 2008.
